On Sunday, Pat and I decided we had spent a bit too much time with just each other and it was time we hang out with more people. So we decided to try Meetup.com which organizes fun things to do with like-minded people. We found a good fit - hiking and strawberry picking!
We set out on Sunday and it didn't rain for the first half hour, so we were off to a great start. It did, however, rain for most of the rest of the day... but we didn't melt and our shoes have now dried out. Our Meetup group was just eight people but they were a really nice crowd from London, Spain, and Canada. We hiked around giant Trent Park, then around some wheat fields, finally ending up in a U-Pick strawberry farm. Actually, you could pick strawberries, raspberries, spinach, swiss chard, and leeks. We stuck to strawberries. We were pretty muddy and very wet but by the end of the day our stomachs were filled with strawberries and we were happy!

In Britain, you don't even have to bend down to pick
strawberries, they're raised for your convenience! |
